Abstract
As has been demonstrated, the capacity of the radio channel in mobile communications systems can be increased by means of dual-polarized antennas. The DC output power of rectennas' can also be increased and made less sensitive to the orientation of the transmitting antenna by employing a dual orthogonal polarized antenna instead of a linearly polarized antenna. This paper presents the design of a novel dual-polarized aperture-coupled dielectric rod antenna that uses a non-radiative dielectric guide as a feed for millimeter and infrared applications. This novel design exhibits high gain and port isolation as well as low cross-polarization and back radiation.
