Abstract

The household sector is a prominent area in terms of energy consumption. In order to achieve meaningful energy savings, IoT solutions to monitor different features of a building need to be combined with novel mechanism to motivate users to adopt energy-efficient routines. For that reason, the present work introduces a novel solution that integrates an open IoT data management platform within the FIWARE initiative and a serious game. This game allows users to take part in a healthy competition of energy-related actions. In this paper, the design of this integration is put forward.
