Abstract

of competence in the domain of Business and Administration: The psychometric structure of competence as well as aspects of test fairness. Two assessments, which are settled in different phases of the competence development, will be described in order to picture transition processes in VET. Therefore, based on DIF analyses, aspects of fairness in competence- based testing as well as for the use in instructional processes to foster learning and teaching in the specifi c domain of economic sciences will be discussed. The DIF analyses are done in different ways: comparing individual characteristics as well as comparing companies’ properties. To describe the transition from school to apprenticeship it may be relevant to identify substantial bias comparing the prior knowledge of apprentices as well as their experiences in VET programs to face differential processes of competence development.
