Abstract

A multilayered graded porous radome wall configuration for X- band is presented in this paper. The five layer radome wall is symmetrically constructed with the material parameters varying gradually from the middle layer to the skin layer on either side. Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) layers with varying porosity are used in the inner region to achieve variable dielectric parameters whereas a quartz based lamination is used in the outermost layers for enhanced structural rigidity and better impedance matching. The novel wall configuration is applied to a belly mounted hemispherical radome and the analysis results establish its superior EM performance characteristics in the desired frequency regime.
