AIR PHOTOS IN MAPPING WILD FOREST BERRY RESOURCES

Abstract

A Russian researcher explores the potential use of intermediate-scale air photos in the inventory and mapping of wild berry resources in the forests of northern Russia. More specifically, the focus is on the use of indirect interpretation keys to identify overgrowths of cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus L.), one of the more commercially important species, on both black-and-white and color photos. The paper also investigates indirect keys that can be used in the interpretation of yields of wild berry plants.
