Analysis of Sound Design Requirements for Mass Public Transportation for the Visually Impaired in Indonesia

Abstract

Development of mass public transportation in the capital city encourages a variety of needs. One of the needs is the need for service improvement in mass public transportation. Sound design is one of the things that can be tried to be able to solve the problems that exist. One of the problems that exist in mass public transportation is the accessibility of people with disability. This research was conducted using several methods such as in-depth interviews and measurements using a sound level meter to explore design requirements. There are 4 problems that are discovered based on in-depth interview. The problem is visually impaired people often miss the destination station, in a hurry condition, feeling restless, and choosing a wrong door. The four problems raised are the basis for making design needs that can solve the problems faced by the visually impaired.
