Distributed generation based on renewable energy sources (RES) has a negative impact on the quality of electricity in distribution networks. The use of the D-STATCOM allows to reduce non-sinusoidal voltage and it fluctuations in the network. The traditional control methods based on the PI controller cause a slow response of the D-STATCOM, which is unacceptable, especially in transient conditions with rapid changes in RES generation.
