The first part of this article presents theoretical assumptions for the issue of social maladjustment, including the definition of the concept, factors disrupting socialization as well as the key causes and methods of diagnosing of the indicated phenomenon. The aim of the own research focused on getting to know and describing the dimensions of social maladjustment based on the narrative of a teenager and her mother, observation and searching for secondary sources. This research was embedded in a qualitative research strategy within a descriptive and theoretical case study. The research results allowed for a detailed description of the dimensions of social maladjustment based on the theoretical assumptions for the Social Maladjustment Scale [pl.
