Abstract
Security is a serious problem in software development, and may become much worse in the future. Unfortunately there is no simple solution to the software security problem. Today's software developers must deal with large numbers of defects in released software. Many security issues result from these defects - defects that occur during software design and development. These defects are unintentional, and their prevalence can be reduced during the development process in order to enhance security.
