Die Kinderpsychiatrie in Österreich 1945–1975 – Entwicklungen zwischen historischer Hypothek und sozialpsychiatrischem Anspruch

Abstract

The development of child and adolescent psychiatry in Austria carries the burden of its histori cal inheritance of the Nazi period. The development after 1945 shows contradictory aspects as a reflection of the social and political situation. A compromise (additive specialisation “Kinder-neuropsychiatrie”) between child psychiatry (in the narrow sense), oriented towards social-psy chiatric and psychotherapeutic approaches and the – quantitatively dominant – “heilpäda-gogisches Netzwerk” following conservative approaches, was established in 1975.
