The impact of religion on medical practices seems to be part of common knowledge on medie val medicine, while the interdependence of both systems, religion and medicine, as academic dis-courses has received far less attention. This contribution thus turns the focus to the relationship between medicine and religion in the middle ages from the perspective of the importance of medical knowledge and arguments for the religious discourse. Two phenomena serve as guiding lines: first, the impact of miracles and second, the religious worship of relics. The 12 th century treatise on relics by Guibert de Nogent serves as primary source to study the signifi-cance of medical wonders in the system of relic worship. A close analysis of the text will reveal what kind of medical and body-related arguments are used to discuss the issue of correct vene-ra tion of relics. The body and its integrity turn out to be at the focus of the arguments pointing to the core issue of the bodily resurrection of Christ, topics that are discussed in the heated debate on bodily relics of Christ.

Aging and in Pallottine First Results The background of the analysis was an examination of aging in religious orders, particularly within the Pallottine communities. The focus was laid on demographic changes, according to nurse-related, social and spiritual-religious challenges. The research question was how aging is designed and how it could be further developed. Instruments und methods: In the beginning, a systematic literature research with the focus on aging, nursing and care in religious com mu-nities was conducted. Additionally, quantitative and qualitative interviews were realized. Results: First findings show that individual solutions should be made possible for each commu nity. A general solution does not make sense. Outlook: In the context of the project, a “task force” of Pallottines und scientists has been established, operating as a counseling and support group.
