Abstract
Women who were sexually abused in childhood often hold distorted beliefs arising from this experience that appear to contribute to mood distrubances such as guilt, low self-esteem, and sadness. A cognitive restructuring intervention was implemented with the aims of correcting these beliefs and alleviating the accompanying mood states. Clinically and statistically significant improvements in both beliefs and mood are reported for a series of 11 clients.
