There has been carried out correlation of the inter-well space, as well as interpretation of GIS in the well logs for structural wells drilled on the territory of the Kirikilinsky area in the 1960-1970s. A lithological-facial model was built based on the research results, together with seismic data. The model demonstrates that previous works should be revised, since the territory in the Apsheron period experienced several transgression-regression cycles. As a result of these processes, sandstone beds with alluvial and deltaic facies were formed. Abstract

Research for gas accumulations in Quaternary deposits was conducted until the mid-sixties of the last century, when gas traps were discovered on the territory of western Kazakhstan, the south of the Astrakhan region and other territories.
