Abstract
This paper investigates uplink non-orthogonal mul-tiple access (NOMA) transmission in multibeam satellite commu-nications with rate splitting, where the satellite simultaneously serves multiple ground clusters through multibeam technology while two heterogeneous users in each cluster are paired to benefit from uplink NOMA with rate splitting. Specifically, we first formulate a constrained optimization problem aiming at minimizing the total power subject to the constraints of individual power budget and quality-of-service requirements of the satellite. Afterwards, we propose a partial zero-forcing beamforming scheme along with the alternating direction method of multipliers with reduced computational burden. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed scheme compared with the existing works.
