Abstract
In planning and operation of an electric power distribution system, accurate estimation of the reliability performance of its different components is a fundamental and challenging part. Weibull probability distribution has been used frequently for the reliability performance analysis. Over the years several new distributions have been proposed that are either derived from, or in some way related to, the Weibull distributions. They provide a richness that makes them appropriate to model complex data sets. Effective reliability performance analysis require good understanding of the properties of these different distributions as well as tools and techniques to determine if a particular distribution is appropriate to model a given data set. Many of these derived distributions have their own shape in the Weibull probability plot (WPP). Hence, WPP plot can be used as a tool for model selection through these distributions. This paper presents a case study regarding the reliability performance analysis of the electricity meter based on the field failure data using the Weibull distribution family. Weibull Probability plot (WPP) is used as a tool for the model selection and validation.
