Abstract

A novel design of dual and wide band coplanar waveguide fed triangular microstrip antenna backed by rectangular slot ground plane in L-band and in S-band is proposed. A parametric study for variation in vertex angle in triangular patch and the effect of variation in strip width over length of the microstrip line is presented. The proposed configuration yields more than 400 MHz (>22%) of bandwidth in L-band and more than 2100 MHz (>55%) of bandwidth in S-band. The antenna shows broadside radiation pattern at dual and wide band response with gain of more than 4 and 2 dBi in respective frequency bands.
