Abstract

Recently emerged reconfigurable field effect transistors (RFETs) come with the advantage of dynamic polarity change at runtime. While this effect has been extensively analyzed for the use of digital cells already, the analog domain can benefit greatly from dynamic characteristic changes of field effect transistors (FETs), too. This work presents various views on an RFET based differential stage circuit from the perspective of reconfigurability. Approaches include variations in bias current and transistor gain, which influence differential gains and output swing. Separate polarity bias of the two differential RFET allows for offset adjustment and cancellation without clocking. The resistance of the active load transistors can be modulated by their polarity gate and transform the differential stage to a single balanced differential mixer.
