This type of research is explanatory research. The population used is all students of class XI SCIENCE SMA Negeri 7 Semarang, totaling 182 students. The instrument used in data collection was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The analysis technique uses a moderated quasi-regression model. The research findings obtained are independent learning has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Individual interest in chemistry lessons has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Parental support has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Parental support weakens the influence of independent learning on student engagement.
