Abstract

An improved detection scheme is proposed for noncoherent impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receivers. The peak amplitude of impulse and RMS value of noise are considered as detection parameters in the proposed method. The receiver based on this method, unlike conventional energy detection (ED) based receivers, does not collect the energy and uses UWB pulses as time triggers. Furthermore, we propose the digital signal processing technique to simplify UWB networking and enhance detection.
