Abstract

The electromagnetic pulse (EMP) response of system cables and antennas can be affected by their connection to an electrical equipment shelter. Results are reported for a typical shelter utilized by the US Army that was experimentally characterized. Measurements were made of cable responses with and without a shelter connection using a radiating EMP simulator. Additional testing was performed to determine the impedance of the shelter over ground. An equivalent Thevenin network of the shelter was developed from the measured data, and comparisons are made between the model and the experimental results.<>
