Abstract

In this paper, we combine optical burst switching (OBS) for managing congestions and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) for handling routing and quality of service (QoS). The performance of two control plane mechanisms such as MPLS explicit routing and interior gateway protocol (IGP) shortest path are examined and numerical results are presented on the throughput and the round trip time (RTT).
