Abstract
The effect of multipath characteristics on the performance of a wireless DS CDMA system has been analysed by considering a specific wireless indoor system for multimedia applications in the 2.4 GHz band. The downlink performance of the system is evaluated in terms of the bit error rate and user capacity. The results are compared for two analytical channel models and one empirical model based on measured profiles. One analytical model assumes independent identically distributed path gains, the other one assumes independent exponentially distributed path gains. The results obtained with the analytical channel models show more pessimistic results than with the measured channels.
