Abstract
In this talk, I take a look back at five years of geo-location estimation for social multimedia, by reviewing the main insights of the MediaEval Placing Task. I then examine the notion of 'geo-relevance' the way that human users perceive the relationship between an image or a video and a location. I argue that new notions of geo-relevance are necessary for users to receive full benefit from technology that predicts geo-location for multimedia. Our work, rather than being near finished, has only just begun.
