Abstract

This paper presents the design of a small sized, single layer dual band reflectarray antenna constructed using a novel element comprising of a split ring and a crossed dipole. The mathematical analysis on the phase compensation is performed and the geometrical parameters are tuned to obtain the desired phase compensation in two closely spaced frequency bands such as the C band and the X band. A 9×9 element reflectarray antenna is constructed and its far-field characteristics are studied. The simulation results show a notable enhancement in the antenna gain.
