Abstract

A metamaterial rod as a superstrate consisting of a periodically cylindrical rod is proposed for gain enhancement of omnidirectional microstrip patch antenna. The metamaterial rod exhibits near zero permeability that it reflects partially wave. This designed technique could be confirmed by a measurement result from prototype antenna that agrees with simulation results.
