Abstract

The concepts of filtering and sampling power system voltage and current signals for harmonic analysis using the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm are introduced. The application of a multirate digital signal processing technique to harmonic analysis is then discussed, and the design of a polyphase decimation finite-impulse response (FIR) filter, for use as an antialiasing filter in oversampling applications, is covered. The implementation of this filter in conjunction with an FFT by a digital signal processor is described, and results of timing tests on the algorithms are presented.
