Abstract

This index presents a list of biblical references relevant to the discussion on stylistic features of the biblical texts, the functions of language, and the relationship between linguistic structure and thought structure. The book reviews studies on the concept of retribution, paying particular attention to the question of who or what brings about retribution and in what sense the consequence is a just desert. In the studies reviewed, not much has been said with respect to what makes a consequence a just desert. The juridical view of retribution helps to justify the consequence since it is meted out according to agreed norms.Keywords: Book of Ezekiel; poetic justice
