Abstract

Suspended patch antenna with fork- like EBG substrate is designed for broadband application in this paper. Due to the use of EBG structure, the main-side lobe ratio of the antenna is increased by 3.3 dB. Simulation and experiments have been carried out to verify the improvement in the antenna performance. The use of fork-like EBG structure also leads to an easy way to design the entire structure.
