To assess the oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) among pregnant and non pregnant women using OHIP-14. Methodology : A Hospital based cross sectional comparative study was conducted in OPD of Obstetrics and Gynecology unit of the government hospitals in Patna, Bihar among systematic random sample of 300 women (150 pregnant and 150 non-pregnant) & of age group 18-40 years after satisfying the inclusion & exclusion criteria. A proforma was used to obtain relevant personal information, pregnancy history and oral health related quality of life measured by OHIP – 14 among pregnant and non pregnant subject. Data were collected, compiled & tabulated using Microsoft excel & analyzed by Chi-square test & independent sample T test with p < 0.05 as statistically significant. Result : The overall mean of all items of OHIP -14 among pregnant group (22.37 ± 8.09) was higher as compared to non pregnant group (3.43 ± 3.04) which is statistically significant (P value < 0.001). Conclusion : The data in our study demonstrate that the OHRQoL of pregnant women was significantly poorer when compared to non-pregnant women.
