LARGE-SCALE MAPPING OF MODERN GEOMORPHOLOGICAL PROCESSES IN THE CENTRAL RUSSIAN PLAIN

Abstract

A team of Russian geomorphologists outlines a method for the compilation of detailed, comprehensive maps of geomorphological processes (1:10,000 and 1:25,000) in support of environmental impact studies of forested areas in the central Russian Plain. The paper investigates whether the identification of regions of similar underlying conditions for the occurrence of a complex of geomorphological processes makes it possible to create a series of such maps for Russia's major geomorphological regions.
