Global spread of the pandemic and world economic outlook

Abstract

Global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic became the straw that broke the camel’s back, triggering a new round of world economic recession. Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world economy faced increasing downward pressure, and international trade and investment performance could not meet expectations. This brought hidden problems to the huge impact of the pandemic on the world economy. Due to long-term accumulation of various risks, the impact of the pandemic on the world economy amplified rapidly. Considering the world economy and the current development of the pandemic, the international community should further strengthen unity and form a combined force in the following aspects. To counter the impact of the pandemic on the world economy, China has provided necessary assistance to relevant countries in their fight against the pandemic and strengthened coordination and cooperation with other countries to jointly cope with the current threats and challenges in the world economy. © 2021 selection and editorial matter, Cai Fang.
