Abstract

We develop a method to formulate pedestrians’ route choice behavior and physical congestion during evacuation process in indoor areas with internal obstacles. This method first constructs a network through discretizing the pedestrian space and then employs a proposed cell transmission model to predict the pedestrian flow’s evolution propagation over time and space in the network. It is quite remarkable that this method can be used to predict pedestrians’ evolution over time and space, especially in the indoor area with internal obstacles, and also formulate the collection behaviors of pedestrians through a bottleneck.
