Abstract

These discussions arose out of concerns expressed by principals of some Catholic schools that some QPS and DChS officers had presented at schools to conduct an interview and obtain a recorded statement from a child under 16 years with the authority provided to those officers under Section 93A of The Evidence Act 1977 but had denied the school authorities the opportunity to exercise duty of care and have a support person from the school present at the interview.
