Abstract

This paper proposes a compact planar monopole antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless communication system frequencies. The antenna consists of a half-shaped crescent-shaped monopole antenna with an electromagnetic coupling on a dielectrics substrate (FR-4) and short stub. The antenna size is 26×12×1.6mm3 and can operate in the bandwidth of UWB systems. The results of frequency-domain and time-domain analyses and the group delay characteristics confirm that the antenna is suitable for high-speed wireless communication applications.
