Thus, a novel hybrid precoding algorithm is proposed for mmWave communication systems. We show that the proposed algorithm is able to achieve good performance. Abstract

As millimeter wave (mmWave) communication has a great deal of free spectrum resources, it has been considered as a key technique for 5G networks. For mmWave communication systems, it is difficult to use conventional digital precoding due to the limitation of cost and power consumption. Therefore, the combination of digital precoding and analog precoding, which is known as hybrid precoding, is put forward to solve the problem. In this paper, we introduce a heuristic searching method to optimize the columns of the analog precoder. Therefore, the non-convex hybrid precoding problem can be solved successively. Thus, a novel hybrid precoding algorithm is proposed for mmWave communication systems. We show that the proposed algorithm is able to achieve good performance.
