Abstract

Due to the medical importance of Pepcid, a spectrophotometric method had been suggested for the determination of Pepcid in its pure form as well as in some of its pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed method relies on two important steps; the first one, is the oxidation-reduction reaction between Pepcid and an amount of cerium IV (oxidizing agent) in presence of acidic medium, followed by the second step that occurs between cerium (III) with safranin, at the selected wavelength 514 nm.
