Abstract
The paper presents the development of a fuzzy rule-based controller to solve the cart-pendulum balancing problem in real time. This approach is based on approximate reasoning and knowledge-based control. It is of substantial interest since the non-linear behavior of the system makes the design of an analytical conventional controller very complex.
