Abstract

With the rise of social media information has become pervasive, which has shifted how conflict and competition occur. Cyber-attacks and information leaks are becoming commonplace in political posturing, now with the attentions of a global audience which goes beyond nuisance ‘hacktivism’. This paper provides an overview of notable incidents, and an analysis of the shift in politics and challenges in addressing the phenomenon.
