Ten papers are introduced which reflect a wide ranging and changing landscape of professional practice.Findings – The paper introduces innovative practice within a context of a particular challenge facing teachers and trainers of HRD. There is a unique relationship between subject matter and the very teaching learning and assessment strategies used to deliver such content.Originality/value – There is limited published research into the teaching and learning of HRD.
