Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of work life. This paper contributes to empirically knowledge of IT governance practices in Japanese organizations based on survey data, conducted in May 2021, gathered from 10,000 corporations, including large, medium, and small companies. The findings of the multiple regression analysis in this study indicate that IT governance is associated with Firm size (Number of employees, Annual sales), Importance of IT utilization to strengthen competitiveness, A post of IT officer, Progress of Digital Transformation (DX), Trends in IT investment over the last three years, Work from home, Importance of data utilization, and The Importance of IT in Covid19. More than half of the responses considered IT as important under the COVID19 pandemic. However, smaller the firms, they tend to perceive that IT governance is not necessary, while IT governance in large corporations have already functioned effectively based on regulations and rules.
