Abstract

The paper deals with the timeless problem of the occurrence of pressure ulcers in patients. The paper focuses on possible ways to reduce the risk of developing this type of wound. The discussed issues are presented in the literature as significant medical problems that worsen the patient’s overall condition. The risk of developing pressure ulcers is determined by the number of risk factors present in the patient and the quality of care provided, among other factors. The aim of the study is to emphasize the importance of decubitus ulcer prevention based on the current literature and the patient’s description with multiple risk factors. The paper points to preventive actions and their positive influence on the patient’s condition. The presented range of nursing procedures creates the possibility of individual adjustment to the needs of the individual patient.
