Abstract

With the development of renewable generation and revolution of the electric power market, generation companies are allowed to bid strategically. The bidding behaviors of the market participants will have significant impacts on the market clearing process, and further influence the unit commitment, power dispatch, power flow, and market prices. It is necessary to study the bidding behaviors impacts on power system operation, especially to answer the question that how much differences of the power system operation will be caused by the bidding behaviors of different generation units. This paper proposes a scenario-based analysis method of the bidding behaviors impacts on the power system operation. It first establishes a scenario generation method of the blocked price-quantity bidding curves, and then proposes a series of indexes to analyze the results.
