Abstract

In order to explore incentive effect of the current subsidy systems for poor students in vocational colleges of China, this research surveys and analyzes the present situation of the subsidy system for impoverished students in Nanjing University of Vocational Industry Technology as a case study. This research finds that the subsidy systems motivate poverty-stricken students mainly through manifesting fairness and commonweal of education, as well as shaping students’ optimism and self-reliance, of which the latter enjoys more remarkable driving effects for students. As a result, multiple measures should be implemented to ensure justice and public benefits when supporting poor students.
