Abstract
The egg sizes separation factory was a single story building with limited space which leads to inadequate production area due to 24 hours of continuous production. Therefore, the factory was facing the problem of overloading production capacity with inadequate storage. A countermeasure for this issue is urgently needed. The company was intended to build a new production factory for expanding the production capacity in order to meet the customer needs which have been increasing. The data was collected in order to clarify the production, process flow and cycle time. The analysis was constructing based on the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) principle (the process relationships analysis). The results of the analysis indicate that the factory can be enhanced in 3 models, the first model with a total distance of 91.82 meters followed by 86.05 and 61.36 meters respectively. The best model is the third one with the shortest total distance of 61.36. Results of the analysis indicate that the first model has a total area of 1,097.4 square meters, followed by 1,353.1 and 1,451.4 square meters respectively. This can be concluded that the best model was the third one with the highest total area of 1,451.4 square meters, based on the comparison of the current factory layout and the new factory layout, the result is that the total distance in the new plant layout is less than the total distance in the plant layout by 33.98 meters, or 22%. Due to the reduction in transportation distance, the filtered egg size can be increased to increase the efficiency of the process.
