Abstract

Chester Robinson, PhD (1956–2021) served as Executive Editor from 2004–2007, following a three-year tenure as Managing Editor. Under his leadership, the Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory & Research won the Best Branch Journal Award from the American Counseling Association. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Robinson transitioned the Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory & Research from a small branch publication to a nationally recognized professional journal. The editorial board grew to 16 members with as many as 8 editors hailing from across the United States. He was especially proud to have the journal abstracted and indexed by EBSCO and assigned an ISSN number by the Library of Congress during his tenure as Executive Editor. Dr. Robinson not only launched our national journal but also created opportunities for counselor educators across Texas to publish their research and build their publication skills. Many who served under Dr. Robinson have gone on to serve as Executive Editors of several national and international counseling journals. The Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory & Research is a well-recognized resource for the latest and best interventions, practicerelated research, and theories and models that have applicability across all counseling specializations as a result of the strong foundation built by Dr. Robinson during his tenure as Executive Editor. His passion for the counseling profession and high ethical standards were evident throughout his career.
