Abstract

Discusses a prototype Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS) originally designed to receive ASDE-3 and ARTS-IIIA data. These two data sources were applied to safety logic to provide air traffic controllers with conflict alert advisories on arrival and surface targets. The prototype AMASS was enhanced by software and hardware changes to perform multiple sensor data fusion, which provided a complete track and identification picture of the airport movement area.
