Abstract

This paper improves the IMS basic session setup mechanism, and proposes a novel session setup mechanism based on caching. An analytical model is established and the cost function and mean time delay function are presented based on the model. Moreover, the performance of this mechanism is evaluated over the basic session setup mechanism and the outcomes show that the novel mechanism gets the benefit in cost and time delay.
