Abstract

Wehavereviewedseverale-learningempiricalresearchstudies thathaveinvestigatedtheeffects ofinteractiononsatisfactionandoutcomesofe-learning,publishedbetween2001and2010.Their conclusions seemed inconclusive, ranging from no relationships between interactions and two dependentvariables(satisfactionandlearningoutcomes)topositiverelationships.In-depthanalyses oftheseempiricalstudiesconductedbyexaminingdependentandindependentconstructsandtheir indicators, research methods, and participants’ characteristics. We conclude that the conflicting resultsareduetoprimarilydifferentdefinitionsofthedependentandindependentconstructsand their indicator variables, different research methods employed, and participant’s demographic characteristics.Inordertobuilde-learningtheoriesandacumulativeresearchtradition,itisnecessary to(1)definethedependent/independentconstructsandtheirindicators,(2)employcommonresearch methodology,and(3)testcommonlyacceptedcausalmodels.Further,wesuggestthefollowingthree recommendationtoguidethefutureresearch.Theyincludeusingonlydialogue, insteadofmixing dialogueandinteraction,conductinglearningtheory-basedholisticapproach,andpropertreatment ofcontextualvariables. Wehavereviewedseverale-learningempiricalresearchstudies thathaveinvestigatedtheeffects ofinteractiononsatisfactionandoutcomesofe-learning,publishedbetween2001and2010。Their结论似乎不确定,从“相互作用”和“两个”之间的“无关系”dependentvariables(satisfactionandlearningoutcomes)topositiverelationships。 Inordertobuilde-learningtheoriesandacumulativeresearchtradition,itisnecessary to (1)definethedependent/independentconstructsandtheirindicators, (2)employcommonresearch方法论,and(3)testcommonlyacceptedcausalmodels。Further,wesuggestthefollowingthree recommendationtoguidethefutureresearch。Theyincludeusingonlydialogue, insteadofmixing dialogueandinteraction,conductinglearningtheory-basedholisticapproach,andpropertreatment ofcontextualvariables。关键词:累积传统、因变量、对话、远程学习、电子学习、实证研究、自变量、互动、学习成果、研究方法、满意度
