Abstract

Interference mitigation between femtocells and the surrounding macrocells is one of the major challenges in femtocell deployment. This paper proposes a system architecture of using TV White Space (TVWS) in LTE femtocell networks, which includes: (i) a Geo-location database to obtain locally available TVWS information, and (ii) a new resource allocation scheme using the locally available TVWS to mitigate the downlink cross-tier interference between macrocell users and nearby femtocells.
