Abstract

Biodiesel, the best-suited replacement for petroleum diesel, is now drawing attention of researchers owing to its advantages and potential for environmental conservation. In this perspective, this chapter explores the need for biodiesel in present-day scenario by highlighting its properties, advantages, and disadvantages. The chapter presents an overview of different techniques proposed by researchers to produce biodiesel.
